In anticipation of CES 2025, following LG Electronics’ announcement regarding its 2025 OLED monitors, Samsung has introduced its lineup of 2025 QD-OLED monitors, which features updated G8 and G6 models. Additionally, the company will launch the Odyssey 3D model.
The 2025 Samsung Odyssey OLED G6 (G60SF) marks a significant milestone as the first QD-OLED monitor to achieve a refresh rate of 500 Hz. This new model boasts a 27-inch panel with a resolution of 2,560 x 1,440. For context, the fastest OLED monitors currently available are the 480 Hz WOLED models utilizing LG Display panels.
The Samsung Odyssey OLED G8 (G81SF), set to launch in 2025, marks the debut of a 27-inch QD-OLED monitor featuring a 4K resolution of 3840 x 2160 and an impressive 240Hz refresh rate. This model utilizes Samsung Display’s QD-OLED technology, which is anticipated to be incorporated into monitors from other manufacturers such as ASUS and Dell.
Both variants of the new Samsung monitors are equipped with VRR capabilities for an enhanced gaming experience, along with support for VESA DisplayHDR True Black 400, NVIDIA G-SYNC, and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro standards. They also offer HDMI 2.1 connectivity, ensuring that all technologies can be utilized seamlessly.
Samsung has unveiled a new smart monitor featuring an upgraded Tizen operating system, designed for the company’s televisions and providing access to various video streaming services and cloud gaming options. The Samsung M9 (M90SF) smart monitor marks the debut of a QD-OLED panel, boasting a 32-inch size with 4K resolution and a refresh rate of 165 Hz. Additionally, this model includes a 4K camera and incorporates 4K AI Upscaling Pro technology. Noteworthy features also comprise the AI Picture Optimizer, which evaluates the input signal to identify the type of content—whether games, videos, or documents—and automatically adjusts the monitor settings to optimize image quality based on the algorithm’s assessment.
The following product is the Samsung Viewfinity S8, a sizable 37-inch LCD monitor featuring a 16:9 aspect ratio and a resolution of 3,840 x 2,160. It is equipped with a USB-C port that supports charging up to 90W.
Samsung has been exploring the possibility of reintroducing 3D monitors for some time, and during CES 2024, it unveiled a 37-inch prototype of a glasses-free 4K 3D monitor. Now, the company is launching a monitor that incorporates this innovative glasses-free 3D technology, utilizing a front camera to track the user’s eye movements in real time, allowing for adjustments to the lenticular lens. The Samsung Odyssey 3D (G90XF) is a 27-inch 4K monitor designed for gaming, although the specific type of display panel technology it employs remains unclear. Additionally, the Odyssey 3D is equipped with AI-driven technology that can convert standard content, such as games and videos, into 3D experiences.
