DJI Unveils New O3 Air Unit FPV Camera for Drones for $229

DJI has officially unveiled the O3 Air Unit, a new POV camera and high-speed video streaming system for FPV drones, usually high-speed models designed specifically for shooting or broadcasting POV video. The novelty will be on sale in the near future at a price of $229 in the US and 249 euros in Europe.

The O3 Air Unit uses a 1/1.7-inch sensor that captures 4K video at 60 frames per second. It is noted that the maximum viewing angle of 155 ° is available when shooting video with an aspect ratio of 4:3 and in lower quality: 2.7K at 50/60 fps or at 1080p at 50/60 fps. Image stabilization uses proprietary DJI RockSteady technology, and D-Cinelike color correction mode allows you to fine-tune color reproduction in detail.

The transmitter design uses 2T2R omnidirectional antennas to transmit 1080p video at 100 fps in H.265 format up to 10 km at a maximum speed of 50 Mbps. According to the manufacturer, the best available frequencies for signal transmission are selected automatically, and the anti-interference technology allows data to be transmitted with a delay of no more than 30 ms. Canvas mode is supported, in which the user can adjust the OSD information, including alerts, timers, and signal quality.

The drone is compatible with the DJI Goggles 2 wireless headset, which is already sold as a separate product. The headset features a 1080p micro-OLED display with a 100Hz refresh rate, and built-in diopters allow adjustment so that the drone operator can interact with the device without wearing glasses. The device can be synced with the DJI Fly app, so the drone’s real-time flight can be broadcast to viewers.
