Flagship gaming mini-PC is set to feature high-end components along with a subtly updated design

ASUS is set to unveil a new iteration of its gaming mini-PC, the ROG NUC, next month. This upcoming model will feature the latest Intel Arrow Lake H-series processor alongside a discrete NVIDIA RTX 50 series graphics card. A teaser for the new ROG NUC has surfaced online, although it was quickly taken down. Nevertheless, images of the device have rapidly circulated on social media.

The graphics subsystem will be handled by a desktop-level NVIDIA RTX 5060 or RTX 5070 video card (before that, ASUS used the RTX 4060 and RTX 4070).

The ROG NUC 2025 showcases some design changes compared to its predecessor. It sports a more angular aesthetic and includes an additional fan on top, while still maintaining a resemblance to the earlier model. In terms of hardware, significant upgrades are on the way. The ROG NUC 2025 will be powered by the Core Ultra 200H processor, likely the flagship Core Ultra 9 285H variant. The graphics capabilities will be enhanced with a desktop-level NVIDIA RTX 5060 or RTX 5070 graphics card, a step up from the previous RTX 4060 and RTX 4070 used by ASUS.

One of the images displays the ports and connectors located on the front panel: two USB Type-A ports, one USB Type-C port, and a 3.5 mm audio jack. The updated version does not include the card reader found in its predecessor, but it does feature a Type-C port. This model is likely to be the flagship of the series, with ASUS potentially introducing simpler variants later on. The devices are expected to be announced and showcased just before the CES 2025 exhibition, scheduled for January 7 to 11. Regarding pricing, ASUS ROG systems are typically on the higher end, so a similar expectation applies to the ROG NUC 2025. For reference, the previous flagship, the ROG NUC 2024, which came with a Core Ultra 9 185H, 32 GB of RAM, a 1 TB SSD, and an RTX 4070, was priced around $2,000 at launch.
