MSI has introduced two new portable consoles simultaneously — the Claw 8 AI+ and Claw 7 AI+. Both models are now available on Amazon. They vary in terms of screen dimensions, battery life, and internal storage, while visual differences are minimal.
Claw 8 AI+
The MSI Claw 8 AI+ comes in two configurations, featuring either the eight-core Core Ultra 7 258V or the Core Ultra 7 256V processor. This setup incorporates Arc 140V graphics powered by 8 Xe2 cores. Additionally, users can choose between 16 or 32 GB of LPDDR5X-8533 RAM, along with a 1 TB M.2 NVMe 2280 SSD (PCIe 4). Consequently, this marks the introduction of the first gaming portable console from a well-known brand that offers 32 GB of RAM, surpassing the ASUS ROG Ally by 8 GB.
The Claw 8 AI+ is equipped with an 8-inch display that boasts a refresh rate of 120 Hz and a peak brightness of 500 nits, complemented by an 80 Wh battery. It offers two Thunderbolt 4 / USB 4 ports for connectivity. Weighing in at 794 grams, it is heavier than the previous model. Additionally, the device’s dimensions have been slightly adjusted, resulting in a marginal increase in width and thickness. It operates on Windows 11.
The MSI Claw 8 AI+ will cost $899 and will go on sale on December 25.
Claw 7 AI+
The 7-inch variant of the console is equipped with an Intel Lunar Lake processor, specifically the Core Ultra 7 258V, paired with Arc 140V graphics. It features 32 GB of LPDDR5X RAM, a 512 GB SSD (M.2 NVMe 2280 SSD PCIe 4), and a 53 Wh battery. The connectivity options mirror those found in the Claw 8 AI+.
The Claw 7 AI+ is priced at $799 and will go on sale on December 1.
