STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl was originally announced immediately after the release of STALKER: Call of Pripyat in 2009. However, due to the collapse of the development company GSC Game World, the release of the next chapter of the franchise was postponed indefinitely.
Six years later, the project was resumed, and the developers wanted to use the Unreal Engine 5 to make STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl a truly new generation game. The game’s release, scheduled for 2021, was subsequently delayed several times for various reasons.
However, the latest announcement still gives the army of franchise fans hope that the date is final. GSC Game World has announced that STALKER 2 will be released on September 5, 2024.
According to the developers, this delay is due to “a certain number of technical shortcomings and to ensure that gamers get the best possible gaming experience.”
STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl is positioned as a first-person shooter that combines elements of survival horror.
