The new Dan Clark E3 headphones has a black and blue design and features ergonomically shaped cups covered with Gorilla Glass 3 .
The Dan Clark E3 headphones are closed-back headphones that combine the signature sound of Dan Clark Audio headphones with an open acoustic design and all the benefits of a closed-back design. The new product features a patented Acoustic Metamaterial Tuning System (AMTS) and uses new 5th generation drivers.
The most important feature of the E3 headphones is the improved AMTS tuning system, previously found only in the top-end Expanse and Corina headphones. E3 brings this technology to a more affordable segment.
The 5th Generation E3 Planar Magnetic Driver features innovative diaphragms using a new tension system to deliver smoother, more consistent sound, less distortion and increased stability. New membrane materials are combined with optimized V-Planar metal tracks.
The earcups of the Dan Clark Audio E3 headphones are lined with Gorilla Glass 3, which is most often used for high-end smartphone screens. Gorilla Glass 3 is glass with a thin layer of alkali-alumina silicate material that makes it tougher and scratch-resistant, and the design behind the glass is reminiscent of the protective mesh of open-back headphones.
Behind the glass you can see a dual-mode bass port – another DCA innovation for the E3. While it’s not unusual to find a bass port on closed-back headphones, Dan Clark Audio says the dual-mode port provides “unmatched control of frequency response in the low-frequency region, producing superbly balanced, impactful bass.”
With Dan Clark Audio headphones, ergonomic design is of paramount importance. The E3 features all of DCA’s ergonomic design features, including the self-adjusting headband system from Stealth and Expanse, as well as the comfortable and stylish foldable earhooks that make the E3 a compact travel headphone.
