The Jabra Evolve 75, also known in some parts as the Jabra Evolve 75 MS, are high-end wireless headphones designed for the field professional, which favor concentration in open offices while improving communication. These headphones feature active noise cancellation to eliminate low-frequency noise and feature long-distance Dual Bluetooth connectivity.
Before going into details, it is important to note that there are two versions of these headphones. The Jabra Evolve 75 MS are certified for Microsoft Teams and meet Microsoft requirements for open offices. Meanwhile, the UC variant of the Jabra Evolve 75 is certified for Zoom. Either way, both are compatible with all softphones and web clients, from Microsoft Teams to Mitel. Therefore, it is clear that they are the type of headphones that we can recommend to professionals who work in offices or Call Centers and require the greatest possible clarity and comfort in their communications.
Alternatively, we can recommend first-hand the Jabra Evolve2 55 for those looking for a slightly more affordable option that is governed by the same standards and certifications for work.
Design
Unlike many other headphones, the Jabra Evolve 75 exhibit a minimalist design that better suits the needs of the business user. The material used is of the highest quality and this is evident when touching them for the first time. There are no exposed screws or hinges, and the earpads have a well-padded leather texture that is exceptionally comfortable, even during extended periods of use, and that’s very important in headphones for work.
Likewise, the headband has a rubber padded area that contributes to the comfort factor. The weight of the headphones is also a plus point, they are only 177 grams.
Meanwhile, most of the control buttons are located on the right earcup. There is a center button that answers or ends calls, volume up and down buttons, a power/pairing switch and a dedicated mute button that also activates the mobile’s voice assistant when we are not on a call. On the left earphone we find a key to activate the microphone and another for ANC.
Unfortunately, the center button doesn’t resume or pause music playback, nor are there any track navigation controls. In our opinion, this is a major omission in any pair of headphones regardless of their purpose. Another complaint about this is that they do not have a 3.5mm connector, only Bluetooth. If you prefer professional headphones that connect via cable, there are the Jabra Evolve 30, 40 and 80.
All that said, the Jabra Evolve 75 are only available in one color presentation, which combines matte black with red accents. Tit is also worth mentioning that they have a red LED light that indicates to our co-workers when we are on a call.
Sound, microphone and ANC
In terms of sound quality, the Jabra Evolve 75 MS are magnificent if what we want is to take calls or participate in video conferences, as there are better options in this price range for listening to music. Either way, these headphones deliver high-quality stereo audio, with a characteristic bass sound suitable for both playing modern mixes and classical music. Additionally, there’s a solid balance between lows and highs, while vocals sound clear and complement the bass. The only complaint is that the highs and lows are so boosted that occasionally the mids are overshadowed.
Noise cancellation is also solid for a Bluetooth headset. This feature eliminates a wide spectrum of noise, including the hum of an air conditioner or fan, plus it does a solid job with low-frequency noises, such as those you might hear on a plane or train. The ANC also doesn’t seem to have a noticeable negative effect on audio performance, which isn’t always the case with wireless headphones.
For its part, the Boom microphone guarantees that clarity is for both parties. Users of these headsets agree that they provide solid feedback and capture the user’s voice in high definition. Therefore, the Jabra Evolve 75 are perfect for long, distraction-free calls.
Connectivity and application
At the connectivity level all we have to work with is Bluetooth 4.2, but the good news is that it has an operating range of up to 30 meters, so we can move freely around the office without losing the connection. On top of that, the Jabra Evolve 75 can connect to two devices simultaneously and switch between them with the press of a button. Additionally, they include a dedicated USB receiver with the same Bluetooth range.
Normally in this section we would talk about what we can do from the headphones application, but to our disappointment, the Jabra Evolve 75 does not have any official companion app.
Battery
When it comes to autonomy, these headphones promise us up to 18 hours of talk time on a single charge, enough for two work days before needing a recharge. And regarding the latter, the process takes up to 2 hours to complete 100% and is via USB. Finally, it is our duty to warn that, when using active noise cancellation, this estimate can be considerably reduced, so do not be surprised if instead of the figure stipulated by the manufacturer you can only get 14 hours of use.
PROS:
- Excellent microphone quality
- Good noise cancellation
- High-quality stereo audio performance
- Long battery life
CONS:
- They do not have a 3.5mm jack
- They do not have a companion app
- Expensive
