Sony has officially unveiled the fifth generation of its most expensive fully wireless headphones WF-1000XM5 and ratings trough the audiophile community are at the very highest.
Updates have affected almost all elements of the design. The new dynamic driver Dynamic Driver X has a composite diaphragm that combines several different materials. The manufacturer especially emphasizes the improved reproduction of the low-frequency range, which was previously the strong point of the model. The headphones have support for the proprietary format 360 Reality Audio , as well as automatic sound adjustment based on the position of the listener’s head.
The new main processor Integrated Processor V2 is paired with the QN2e processor responsible for noise reduction. A separate system with deep learning elements provides noise reduction during calls. Support for proprietary LDAC codec and DSEE Extreme signal processing system allows you to get excellent sound quality when connected via Bluetooth. The new Noise Isolation Earbud Tips help to successfully reduce high-frequency noise.
The headphones can last up to 8 hours on a single charge and up to 60 hours when paired with a charging case, they are IPX4 certified and, according to the company, are partly made using recycled materials.
The Sony WF-1000XM5 headphones will go on sale in the European market in August 2023 at a price of 319 euros .
