The new FiiO BT11 transmitter will add modern bluetooth audio codecs to any device. Even with an iPhone, you can get aptX Lossless, LDAC and, apparently, LC3. And the same applies to both PC and Mac. In all cases, the device opens the way to the reproduction of 96kHz/24bit audio, which was unattainable for the mentioned products via wireless. Now all you have to do is connect the module to the USB-C connector of your phone, computer, or game console and start listening. At the same time, we are happy that the transmission of lossless sound in CD quality – 44.1 kHz/ 16 bit – was not forgotten. The listeners will probably feel that one the most.
The novelty will also be appreciated by fans of the Nintendo Switch game console. Although it has supported bluetooth audio for three years, it lacks advanced codecs and the bluetooth connection of headphones limits the possibilities of working with controllers. In the case of using the FiiO BT11, the entire capacity of the internal bluetooth chip will remain for the functions that the manufacturer planned for it when the console was first designed. The drivers will work as they should, and there will be no problem with playing, audio output quality, or additional functions.
FiiO BT11 boosts quality and bypasses limitations
Even if an iPhone, Nintendo Switch or Mac supports Bluetooth, their connection has limitations. Full support for modern codecs can mostly only be found on Android phones. And it’s not just Apple devices. PCs tend to be even worse. The wildest is the situation with the Nintendo Switch game console. In addition to the lower sound quality and problems with the drivers, the integrated bluetooth also surprises users by the fact that it does not support Bluetooth microphones. Any multiplayer games are thus immediately wireless and communication-free. FiiO BT11 bypasses these limitations and also offers sound transmission in solid quality.
The component that FiiO BT11 owes these capabilities to is none other than the quad-core Qualcomm QCC5181 chip. This is additionally supported by a pair of 280Mhz DSP Qualcomm Kalimba processors. The novelty can thus fulfill the requirements of Snapdragon Sound technology and, thanks to Bluetooth 5.4, there is no doubt a stable, problem-free connection that will not cost half of your phone’s battery. The ability to connect two devices at the same time is a nice bonus, which you will appreciate, for example, when you want to watch a movie with your significant other on the plane.
It will delight you with its design and mobile application
Users can easily control the BT11 with the FiiO Control App, which we recently looked at in our review of the FiiO SP3 BT . It is available for both iOS and Android and enables pairing settings, codec support, and this time also volume control or channel balance. We’re guessing there won’t be an equalizer either. Of course, you can also find OTA software updates for your device here. In the future, they should bring, for example, support for the most modern LC3 codec.
FiiO BT11 will be offered by the manufacturer in black and silver. With dimensions of 28 mm x 21 mm x 9 mm and a weight of only 3 g, it is like a small decoration of the source device. In addition, there is also an RGB LED light on the body. It will immediately let you know what codec the listener is currently using and what state the device is in.
