VPI has introduced the VPI Model One turntable , the first model in the new modular Forever Series . Drawing on more than 45 years of experience in the design and manufacture of high-quality audio equipment, the Forever Series from VPI promises to usher in a new era of performance and modularity in audio.
The heart of the VPI Model One is the motor module. This module is mounted on a thick aluminum platform and is heavily damped to reduce vibration and improve clarity. The motor runs at 500 rpm and features a dual-drive pulley to control the platter speed – 33 or 45 rpm. The inverted bearing minimizes the contact area between the platter and the bearing, reducing friction and improving performance.
The turntable features the new VPI S-Tonearm module. The 10-inch, S-shaped, statically balanced tonearm features a robust aluminum construction. VTA adjustment at the base of the tonearm allows precise height adjustment, while azimuth adjustment is available in the headshell. ABEC 5 bearings provide ultra-low friction, eliminating chatter and ensuring durability. A continuous length of VPI high-purity copper cable runs from the cartridge to the RCA connectors. The Model One turntable features VPI’s new 3-point floating suspension, designed to provide superior isolation of the support from external and internal vibrations.
The VPI Model One maintains the company’s classic aesthetic: black ash veneer gives it a timeless look, while a hinged transparent cover protects the tonearm and platter from dust.
The modular design of the drive and platter allows for easy maintenance and adjustment, and provides an easy path for future upgrades to the Model Two or Model Three as they become available.
The VPI Model One turntable comes with a 10-year manufacturer’s warranty, indicating that the turntable is built to last. This is reflected in the Forever series name. The VPI Model One is available now for a suggested retail price of $5,250
