If your iPhone has been acting unusual in the last week, we want you to know that you are not alone. Since the second week of October 2023, we have heard several reports and complaints from users about their iPhones, specifically related to iOS 17.0.3, which does not appear to be the most polished version to date, but by far the most alarming are the reports of iPhones turning off overnight on their own.
At the time of publishing this note, there are already several Reddit threads that confirm this occurrence, likewise, different sites have reported the same thing, so we know that it is not an isolated case or a collective hallucination. It is a real situation, so woe to anyone who depends on the phone to wake up in the morning and has had this problem happen to them.
Some iPhones are turning off at night and it seems that iOS 17.0.3 is responsible
Almost all the reports agree on the same thing, when waking up in the morning, the affected users noticed that the device urged them to enter the pin to unlock; a typical sign that the iPhone has been reset . Taking a look at the battery graph, the suspicions of many were confirmed , the cell phone was turned off for a few hours during the early hours of the morning.
With that in mind, this problem does not seem to be exclusive to the iPhone 15, but rather it seems to affect any device with iOS version 17.0.3 , as the iPhone 13 series could well be. Another common aspect is that it seems to occur only at night and, apparently, the device turns on again on its own when dawn comes.
The iOS 17 new features list doesn’t mention any feature that does such a thing, so we can only assume that this erratic behavior is a new bug. At the moment no one is sure what is causing it, just that the latest version of iOS has something to do with it.
