The upcoming Samsung Galaxy A05 smartphone has appeared in the databases of certification bodies under two model numbers – SM-A055F and SM-A055M. Today, the F variant passed several tests in the Geekbench 6 benchmark. Judging by the results, the smartphone is powered by the MediaTek Helio G85 (MT6769V/CZ) chipset. It’s a decent upgrade from the Galaxy A04 which uses the Helio P35.
Both chips are made on 12nm process technology, but the G85 has two Cortex-A75 cores (2.0 GHz) and six A55 cores (1.8 GHz) versus eight Cortex-A53 cores in the P35. This doubles both single-threaded and multi-threaded kinds of performance. In addition, the Mali-G52 MC2 graphics are more than twice as fast as the PowerVR GE8320 engine.
The Galaxy A05 tested was equipped with 4 GB of RAM, which is pretty decent for the budget category. More importantly, this is enough to run the full version of Android, not the Go Edition. The official release date of the Galaxy A05 has not yet been disclosed, but the debut may take place as early as the end of August.
