Venus Optics is preparing to introduce an innovative, fast ultra-wide-angle lens for Sony cameras. This will be the Laowa 10mm F/2.8 C&D Dreamer with support for the autofocus system. Several foreign sources have published images and details about this lens.
Judging by the presented images, the Laowa 10mm F/2.8 C&D Dreamer lens turned out to be quite compact, and most likely lightweight. At the same time, the presence of an autofocus system will be a big plus of the new product. Sony has never produced a lens like this, so the lens can be called unique. The diameter for installing filters will be 77 mm.
On the left side of the lens barrel there is a focus mode switch (automatic/manual). At the same time, the focusing ring itself turned out to be very wide and seemed to occupy most of the length of the lens. Apparently, there will be no aperture control ring.
Apparently, the Laowa 10mm F/2.8 C&D Dreamer lens will be designed for cameras with full-frame sensors (in the photo above, the lens is used in conjunction with the full-frame Sony A7C).
The price of the new lens for Sony cameras has not yet been announced. Also, the manufacturer has not yet disclosed the potential date for the announcement of the Laowa 10mm F/2.8 C&D Dreamer lens. Apparently, more detailed information about the future new product will be published in the near future.
Previously announced were the lightweight, fast Laowa Ranger Lite cine lenses, which are reduced by 10% compared to their predecessors. At the same time, they retained all the same characteristics, focal length, as well as optical design – that is, they did not lose in quality.
The new Laowa Ranger Lite lenses will also be available in Space Gray instead of black on the “regular” Ranger. Moreover, in virtually all respects the new optics are identical to the previous original version of film optics.
The Laowa Ranger Lite zoom lenses are now available for $3,499 each, but you can also purchase them as a kit for $6,799.
