The Sony A9 III, which, as previously reported, could be presented as early as November 8-9, since the company’s presentation is planned for this date. However, Sony has not officially announced that the Sony A9 III will be released during this announcement.
Partial characteristics of the camera were disclosed in previous publications on the topic. Now, as the potential announcement date approaches, the source clarified a number of parameters of the future new product.
In particular, it is reported that the Sony A9 III will receive a matrix with a resolution of 33 megapixels. This will probably be a new generation sensor that will have a multi-level structure. It was previously reported that the resolution of the camera matrix could be 44 megapixels, however, given the focus of the camera on reportage high-speed burst shooting, this figure is unlikely.
Sony A9 III, according to a foreign source, will not have a mechanical shutter. In this sense, the manufacturer follows the trend started by Nikon in the flagship model Nikon Z9.
The Sony A9 III camera will be able to provide continuous shooting at a speed of 40 fps in RAW (12 bits) , and 30 fps in RAW (14 bits) . These are quite high figures, which, apparently, Sony will focus on in its marketing campaign.
It is reported that the camera will provide support for shooting video in RAW. But no clarifications on the resolution and other specifications of this function are provided. However, in video mode, the camera is known to have at least two advanced modes: 4K 60 fps (probably from the full sensor area), and 1080p at 240 fps . Apparently, Sony does not want competition between the Sony A9 III and Sony A7S III, which has the ability to record 4K 120 fps.
Previously, information was published about the available sensitivity range, which can be ISO 50–102400. This information is currently not commented on by another source.
The Sony A9 III camera will have an electronic viewfinder with a resolution of 3.7 million dots without blackout during continuous shooting. The camera will also receive fast hybrid eye autofocus in real time (759 phase detection points). It is stated that the camera will receive a 5-axis image stabilization system (SteadyShot), as well as two slots for CFexpress memory cards of type A and SD.
The price of the Sony A9 III camera could be $4,498.
The announcement of a new camera with an APS-C matrix is also expected: Sony ZV-E10 II . The source reports that the new camera will have a higher cost than the first generation model, but at the moment the price of the future new product is not disclosed.
It is highly likely that the Sony 300mm F/2.8 G-Master OSS telephoto lens will be presented – an expected lens, the development of which was announced in January 2023. The source estimates the likelihood of the lens being announced at 99%.
