Sony has registered two new cameras and one of them is Sony A9 III

Sony has registered two new cameras in China. This indicates that the company is preparing to announce the devices in the near future. The source reports that one of the cameras is the expected new product with advanced characteristics Sony A9 III.

The first device was registered on September 4th. The camera was assigned the code “WW559681”. The second camera was registered on September 20 under the code “WW459276”.

Camera registration information confirms that the devices will belong to the professional line – Sony Alpha, since they support a frequency of 5.1 MHz. “Younger” Sony cameras only support the 2.4 MHz frequency.

Typically, the official announcement follows 2.5-4 months after the registration of Sony cameras in China. This means that both new models could be announced between November (2023) and January (2024).

One of the sources reports that one of the cameras registered is the upcoming Sony A9 III. The announcement could take place around November 8, 2023. However, this date still requires confirmation (Sony has not yet officially set the date for the next big announcement).

Details about the Sony A9 III were previously revealed by another source. It was reported that the Sony A9 III will have enhanced video capabilities. The camera will be able to record 8K at 60 fps. This will be possible thanks to a 44 MP CMOS sensor. The sensor itself will be “completely new and multi-layered” – it will be the “fastest” camera among all Sony devices (meaning the possibility of burst shooting).

The second high frame rate shooting option is 4K 120fps, which will also be available on the Sony A9 III. The available sensitivity range will be ISO 50–102400. This is quite a high figure for a camera with a 44 megapixel matrix.

It is reported that the Sony A9 III will have an electronic viewfinder with a resolution of 3.7 million dots without blackout during continuous shooting. The camera will also receive fast hybrid eye autofocus in real time (759 phase detection points). It is stated that the camera will receive a 5-axis image stabilization system (SteadyShot), as well as two slots for CFexpress memory cards of type A and SD.

Images of the Sony A9 III camera have not yet been published. The price of the camera has not yet been disclosed. It is likely that details about the Sony A9 III will be revealed by the source as the camera’s announcement date approaches.
