Tamron 70-180mm F2.8 Di III VC VXD G2 announced

Tamron  today officially announced the development of a new 70-180mm f / 2.8 Di III VC VXD G2 lens .

From the press release:

Tamron Co. Ltd. announces the development of the 70-180mm F2.8 Di III VC VXD G2 (Model A065), a fast telephoto zoom lens for Sony E full-frame mirrorless cameras.

Product Overview

The 70-180 mm F2.8 G2 lens is a further evolution of the first generation model, which has received wide acceptance in the market, and includes several improvements. Topping the list of improvements for the new G2 lens is TAMRON’s patented VC (Vibration Compensation) mechanism. The lens remains compact with best-in-class smallest size and weight for more stable shooting.

The optical design has been redesigned from the first generation 70-180mm F2.8 lens to deliver uncompromisingly high image quality throughout the zoom range. TAMRON has also reduced the minimum object distance at the wide end to 0.3m compared to the first generation’s 0.85m, allowing users to enjoy the unique photographic effects inherent in the lens. In addition, the new 70-180mm F2.8 G2 zoom lens is equipped with a TAMRON VXD (Voice-coil eXtreme-torque Drive) focusing mechanism that delivers high-speed, accurate autofocus that performs well in both stills and movies.

The new 70-180mm F2.8 G2 zoom lens also supports TAMRON Lens Utility and TAMRON Lens Utility Mobile dedicated apps developed by TAMRON. The software can be used to customize functions for different styles of photography and video shooting. The new lens design improves ease of use and resistance to mechanical damage. The lens combines exceptional compactness with practicality, providing shooting options that make using this fast telephoto lens even more enjoyable.
