Optoma , one of the world’s leading projector manufacturers, has unveiled the Optoma Photon Go ultra-short throw projector , the first model in its new Photon series. The distinctive feature of the new product is the presence of a built- in battery, which allows it to be used almost anywhere.
Designed for entertainment on the go, the Optoma Photon Go projector features triple-laser RGB technology for brighter colours and better contrast. Designed with versatility in mind, this ultra-short throw (UST) projector can use any wall as a screen, delivering a stunning viewing experience at home or on the go.
Unlike traditional lamp-based or single-laser projectors, the Photon Go’s RGB tri-laser system uses pure red, green, and blue light sources, eliminating the need for color wheels or filters. This provides a wider color gamut, greater color accuracy, and deeper contrast levels for a more realistic image. Additionally, RGB laser projectors maintain consistent brightness over time, unlike lamp-based systems, which lose brightness as they are used.
The Optoma Photon Go projector features a portable design with a built-in battery, allowing you to use it anywhere, both indoors and outdoors. So you can take it to the nursery, take it on trips, take it out to the garden for a summer movie night, or create an immersive play environment almost anywhere you have a large, flat, white surface.
The Optoma Photon Go UST projector is based on DLP technology with a triple RGB laser system. It offers 1080p Full HD resolution and 650 lumens of brightness with peak values of up to 1,200 lumens. The static contrast ratio is 800:1, which allows you to use a screen with a diagonal of up to 100 inches from a distance of just 25 cm. It also has an automatic horizontal keystone correction of +/- 10 degrees and a vertical keystone correction of +/- 5 degrees.
The new product is equipped with a Wi-Fi 5, 6, 7 (5 GHz) adapter, HDMI 2.0 input, USB-C input for power supply and battery charging, USB-A output for charging mobile gadgets, optical S/PDIF output and RJ45 port for wired network connection. The built-in battery provides up to 1.5 hours of wireless media playback or up to 4 hours of music playback in Bluetooth speaker mode. If necessary, you can increase its autonomy by connecting an external power bank.
The Optoma Photon Go UST projector features dual 10W speakers with built-in Dolby Audio technology, delivering rich, immersive audio without the need for external equipment. Of course, it also includes the Google TV operating system, which gives you access to thousands of apps, including Netflix, YouTube, and Disney+. So you can use the projector in any room without the need for an external source, just an internet connection.
The use of Google TV means that the projector is also equipped with Google Cast. This system offers multi-screen TV and audio as it can wirelessly stream TV shows and movies from your mobile phone or tablet to the projector at the touch of a button.
The new Optoma Photon Go UST projector will be available in Europe in April 2025 with a recommended retail price of €999
