LG kicks off 2025 with the launch of its QNED92A series, positioning it as a high-end Mini LED alternative to its celebrated OLED lineup. Leading the charge is the 65-inch LG 65QNED92A, the smallest in the series, which also includes 75- and 85-inch variants. With a redesigned Mini LED backlight system, enhanced dimming precision, and a suite of smart features, the QNED92A aims to deliver a premium experience at a more accessible price point. But how well does it succeed?
Design & Build: Subtle Refinements, Solid Construction
At first glance, the LG QNED92A looks familiar, with a minimalist design and ultra-slim bezels. However, unlike its QNED91T predecessor, this model opts for a pair of V-shaped legs rather than a central stand—offering stability for its large screen sizes. At 58mm thick, it’s not the slimmest on the market, but the build quality feels reassuringly robust.

The QNED92 is compatible with VESA standards; however, it has a weight of 18.6kg, which is an important consideration if you intend to mount it on a wall.
The set supports standard VESA wall mounting and weighs in at 18.6 kg, so make sure your wall can handle the heft. Connectivity has been thoughtfully arranged, with all ports facing sideways or downward for a flush wall installation. Materials are fairly standard, but the premium polish is unmistakable.
The included Magic AI Remote (MR25) is more compact this year, ditching the number keys in favor of a cleaner layout. It retains the scroll wheel and adds a dedicated LG AI button for voice control, replacing last year’s microphone button. It supports both Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa, and for added convenience, the LG ThinQ app allows full remote control via smartphone.
Picture Quality: Big Gains in Brightness and Precision
The QNED92A takes a major leap forward from last year’s QNED91T, particularly in backlight performance. LG has significantly increased the number of local dimming zones and implemented a more advanced dimming algorithm, minimizing halo effects and backlight blooming.

Contrast has improved dramatically, now reaching an excellent 12,000:1. Color accuracy also gets a boost—especially in Cinema and Filmmaker modes, which register impressively low DeltaE values of 4.0 and 1.2, respectively (well below the visible error threshold of 3.0). By contrast, Standard and Vivid modes still suffer from excessive blue tones and noticeable color inaccuracies.
Motion clarity is another strong point, especially in sports content, thanks to effective upscaling and TruMotion enhancements. However, reflections can be problematic in bright rooms, and off-angle viewing continues to be a challenge—albeit slightly improved.

HDR Performance: Impressive Brightness, Minor Flaws
The QNED92A handles HDR content with confidence. Peak brightness hits 1,520 nits (25% window), with 1,450 nits at 10% and 770 nits in full-screen white—making it one of LG’s brightest Mini LED TVs to date. Color coverage is strong as well, hitting 97% of the DCI-P3 color space.
In real-world usage, HDR images are vibrant and well-balanced, but the QNED92A isn’t completely free of legacy issues. Some minor backlight bleed is still visible—especially around bright objects on dark backgrounds—and shadow detail can sometimes get lost in the mix. Still, it’s a notable improvement over its predecessor.
Gaming: Built for Serious Players
Gamers will find plenty to love here. All four HDMI 2.1 ports support 4K at 120Hz and even up to 144Hz with VRR enabled. The QNED92A supports Dolby Vision for gaming, AMD FreeSync Premium, Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM), and features LG’s comprehensive Game Optimiser suite.
Input lag is extremely low—just 9.6ms at 4K/60Hz and under 2ms at 1080p/120Hz. Customization options are extensive: you can fine-tune genre-specific picture profiles, toggle VRR and ALLM on or off, and adjust both audio and visual preferences directly through the Game Dashboard.
Smart Features: webOS at Its Best
LG’s webOS continues to be a gold standard in smart TV platforms, and the 2025 edition further refines the experience. It’s smooth, highly responsive, and now includes user-specific profiles that tailor recommendations and content layouts based on viewing habits.
Quick Cards provide fast access to hubs like sports, games, and music, while the redesigned Home Hub consolidates external device management, mobile casting (via AirPlay 2 and Google Cast), and control of Matter-compatible smart home devices.
Every major streaming platform is supported out of the box, including local TV apps and LG’s own Channel service. Content discovery is a breeze, and voice assistant integration adds another layer of convenience.
Sound: Serviceable, But Underwhelming
If the QNED92A stumbles anywhere, it’s in the audio department. The 2.2-channel, 40-watt system supports Dolby Atmos, but without upward-firing speakers, the effect is limited. Sound modes vary in quality, and while the new Personalized Sound Wizard attempts to tailor audio to your tastes, the improvement is marginal.
For those seeking immersive sound to match the vibrant visuals, pairing the TV with a quality soundbar—like the LG S80TR, which supports WOW Orchestra—is strongly recommended.
Connectivity: Comprehensive and Future-Ready
The QNED92A doesn’t skimp on ports or wireless features. You’ll find:
-
4x HDMI 2.1 (with eARC, ALLM, VRR)
-
2x USB-A
-
Optical digital out
-
Ethernet & antenna inputs
-
Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.3
-
Support for AirPlay 2 and Chromecast

Whether you’re streaming, gaming, or setting up a home theater, the QNED92A is well-equipped.
Pricing & Availability
As of April 2025, pricing for the LG QNED92A series is as follows:
-
65-inch (65QNED92A) – $2,300 (pre-order)
-
75-inch (75QNED92A) – $3,300
-
85-inch – Pricing and availability TBD
Final Verdict: A Worthy OLED Alternative?
The LG QNED92A marks a confident step forward in LG’s Mini LED evolution. It delivers substantial improvements in brightness, color accuracy, and dimming performance—especially when viewed head-on. It still doesn’t quite match OLED in black levels or viewing angles, and the built-in audio is middling, but as a whole, this is a very impressive premium TV.
With excellent gaming features, a superb smart platform, and vibrant HDR performance, the QNED92A is a compelling choice for buyers who want near-OLED quality without the price or risk of burn-in.
