Samsung’s 2025 QN90F series pushes the boundaries of Mini-LED TV performance, delivering exceptional brightness, improved contrast, and a suite of AI-powered features. Replacing last year’s QN90D, this new generation builds upon its predecessor’s strengths while introducing key refinements in display technology, image processing, and gaming support.
Notably, Samsung has skipped the “E” in its model naming this year, transitioning directly from QN90D to QN90F. With screen sizes ranging from 43 to a record-breaking 115 inches, and enhanced features packed into the Tizen 2025 OS, the QN90F is one of the most advanced 4K TVs on the market.
Design & Build
The Samsung QE75QN90F embodies premium craftsmanship with a clean, metallic pedestal-style stand that offers ample clearance (7cm) for soundbars. While not as wafer-thin as OLEDs, the QN90F boasts a sleek, uniform chassis with minimal protrusion and a stylish matte-textured rear panel.

Samsung’s Glare-Free screen coating significantly reduces reflections without compromising image fidelity, making it a great fit for bright rooms. At 2.6 cm maximum thickness and with bezels measuring just 0.8 cm, the TV maintains a sharp, modern profile. Cable management is handled via rear grooves, though wall-mount users may find the recessed input ports a bit cumbersome.
The bundled SolarCell Remote charges using indoor light or USB-C—an eco-conscious upgrade that eliminates battery waste.
Picture Quality
Powered by Samsung’s latest quantum dot Mini-LED panel, the QN90F delivers strikingly bright and vivid images. The 75-inch model reaches an impressive 2,100 nits peak brightness in HDR Filmmaker Mode (10% window)—slightly edging out the QN90D, though still trailing the Sony Bravia 9’s 2,500-nit performance.
HDR highlights are especially well-rendered, showcasing sparkling detail in bright elements such as sunlight on water or glinting jewelry. Backed by 900 local dimming zones and a VA panel with a 4,800:1 native contrast ratio, the QN90F achieves excellent black levels and impactful dynamic range.
The bezels around the panel are 0.8 cm wide, and the maximum thickness of the case is 2.6 cm.
That said, Mini-LED limitations still apply. Occasional blooming and ghosting may be visible during scenes with high-contrast transitions, such as white subtitles over black backgrounds. Fortunately, Samsung’s local dimming algorithm handles these challenges better than most competitors.
Color reproduction is strong, though not class-leading. The QN90F covers about 93% of the DCI-P3 color gamut and 72% of BT.2020—matching the QN90D, but falling behind OLED rivals like the LG C4 and Samsung’s own QD-OLED S95F.
Viewing Angles and Reflections
Thanks to the anti-glare matte coating, the QN90F performs admirably in bright environments. Reflections are diffused effectively without rainbow artifacts or noticeable color distortion. However, the matte finish can slightly dull perceived contrast compared to glossy screens.

Viewing angles are acceptable for a VA panel. Brightness and color fidelity hold up reasonably well to about 30° off-center, but blacks begin to wash out noticeably beyond 70°.
Image Processing
Samsung’s AI-powered processor upscales lower-resolution content with decent sharpness, though some fine details are lost. The QN90F smooths out compression artifacts well, especially in streaming content with limited bitrate. A “Film Mode” helps clean up interlaced sources.
Gradient handling in HDR is adequate—most color transitions appear smooth, though some banding is visible in bright grays and greens. Dirty screen effect (DSE) is minor, with some corner darkening and faint center blotches, but overall panel uniformity is solid.

Gaming Performance
With support for HDMI 2.1, VRR (including FreeSync and G-Sync), and refresh rates up to 165Hz (144Hz on the 115″ model), the QN90F is built for gamers. Input lag is just 9ms at 1080p/60Hz and even lower at higher frame rates. Response times hover around 7ms, which ensures fluid motion during fast-paced gameplay.
Samsung’s Game Bar offers at-a-glance performance data, while the Game Hub allows direct access to cloud gaming services and connected consoles. Motion interpolation and black frame insertion features enhance clarity for both games and films, though occasional stutter can occur in slow-panning scenes.
Smart Features & Tizen OS
The Tizen 2025 operating system introduces a slightly cleaner settings interface with improved iconography. However, the home screen remains cluttered with recommendations and promotions. Quick access to recent apps is a welcome improvement.
Samsung Vision AI remains a work in progress. The “What to Watch Next” and “Who’s Playing” features—triggered by a dedicated AI button—feel underdeveloped. The former offers generic suggestions, while the latter often defaults to Wikipedia actor pages. These tools are currently limited in scope and utility.
AI-enhanced picture and sound modes are similarly hit-or-miss, with limited impact during real-world use and only functional in certain apps.
Audio Performance
The QN90F includes a 4.2.2-channel, 60-watt speaker system with Dolby Atmos and Samsung’s Object Tracking Sound+ (OTS+). By default, sound is flat and lacks immersion, but enabling Active Voice Amplifier Pro unlocks richer, more spatially dynamic audio.
Bass reproduction is commendable for a thin TV, and OTS+ accurately positions sound effects on-screen. Still, high frequencies can sound sharp at times, and the cabinet may vibrate slightly. Audiophiles will benefit from pairing the QN90F with a Q-Symphony-compatible soundbar such as the Samsung HW-Q995F.
