In July 2023, Gboard for Android hinted that its team was working on an undo feature. Now, it’s finally making its way into the beta version of the app.
The Undo button can be found in the list of functions, and you can drag it to the top row of the keyboard for easy access. It’s a bit odd, though, since most users probably won’t think to look for it there. When you hit this button, Gboard will undo your last action—removing one letter at a time if you were typing, or the whole word or sentence if you pasted it. Plus, a Redo button pops up right next to the Undo button.
9to5google gave the new feature a spin, and it seems to work if you close and reopen the keyboard. But once you exit the app, you can’t use it anymore—the “Undo” button gets grayed out. This cool update is part of Gboard version 14.9.06.x, which is still in beta, but keep in mind that it’s not available on every device.
