Denmark’s Lyngdorf Audio is showcasing its latest in-wall and in-ceiling loudspeakers at Integrated Systems Europe (ISE) in Barcelona. The lineup includes the D-6 in-wall loudspeaker, the DW-10 high-performance in-wall woofer, and the newly introduced BWS-210 high-performance in-wall woofer, all designed in collaboration with sister brand Steinway & Sons. These new additions enhance the brand’s Discreet Series, focusing on delivering exceptional sound quality while preserving a sleek, minimalist design suitable for custom installations. Shipping is anticipated to commence later this quarter.
The Lyngdorf D-6 is introduced as an in-wall option that replaces conventional two-way monitor speakers. The designers assert that this speaker provides a well-balanced and natural audio experience while effortlessly blending into diverse interior designs. In contrast to some of Lyngdorf’s other in-wall offerings, the D-6 features a lighter build, lacking a pre-assembled MDF cabinet, which makes it ideal for lighter walls and restricted mounting spaces. Lyngdorf Audio emphasizes that the sound quality is not sacrificed, as it utilizes high-quality drivers affixed to a low-resonance MDF baffle.
The D-6, as noted by Lyngdorf, features a 6.5-inch aluminum midrange/woofer and a soft dome tweeter, both engineered to provide precise sound reproduction with a well-balanced tonal quality. With a sensitivity rating of 89 dB and a nominal impedance of six ohms, the D-6 is designed to be easily powered by most amplifiers while still achieving high sound pressure levels.
The Lyngdorf DW-10 is the latest addition to the Discreet Series, offering a high-performance in-wall woofer tailored for installations that demand outstanding bass response and efficient use of space. Building on the success of the previous DW-1 model launched last year, the DW-10 incorporates a deeper enclosure that accommodates two 10-inch woofers, specifically designed to fit within 6-inch wall cavities while providing enhanced bass performance.
The DW-10 features two patented shallow, high-excursion woofers that incorporate advanced voice coil and cone geometry, a four-layer voice coil, an ultra-rigid dual aluminum cone, and a robust neodymium magnet. The manufacturer asserts that these elements produce deep, powerful bass with remarkable output, resulting in a swift and precise response that harmonizes well with larger speaker systems. Furthermore, the sealed enclosure enhances rigidity and resonance management, making it ideal for dedicated home theaters, media rooms, or situations where freestanding subwoofers are impractical.
With the introduction of the D-6 and DW-10, Lyngdorf has broadened its Discreet Series to include nine models: D-500, D-500 Center, D-5, D-5 IC, D-6, D-60, D-60 C, DW-1, and DW-10. Each speaker and woofer in this series is crafted for custom installation, ensuring seamless integration with both in-wall and freestanding speaker setups, as stated by Lyngdorf.
The BWS-210, known as the Boundary Woofer Shallow, is a premium in-wall woofer specifically engineered for Steinway & Sons loudspeaker systems. It is equipped with two robust 10-inch bass drivers, which the manufacturer asserts enables the woofer to produce profound, dynamic bass from a remarkably slim profile. Key features include a four-layer voice coil, a highly rigid dual aluminum cone, a powerful neodymium magnet, and an exceptionally sturdy cast aluminum basket, all contributing to what the company describes as an outstanding bass performance that aligns with the renowned sound quality of Steinway & Sons speakers.
As with all Steinway & Sons loudspeakers, the BWS-210 is integrated into Steinway Lyngdorf’s Integrated System philosophy, ensuring harmonious interaction among speakers, woofers, digital amplifiers, and stereo or surround processors. The RoomPerfect technology allows for acoustic calibration of the speakers and woofers to match the room’s acoustics, while advanced Bass Management enhances sound integration, providing an optimal audio experience in any configuration.
Each speaker and woofer in this series is tailored for custom installation, allowing for seamless integration with both in-wall and freestanding speaker setups, as noted by Lyngdorf.
The new models are anticipated to be available through authorized dealers in the first quarter of 2025, although pricing details have yet to be disclosed.
