Today, September 25, Huawei held a presentation at which it announced several of its new products. Among them is the premium MatePad Pro tablet with a 13-inch display. The manufacturer claims that this is the world’s thinnest and lightest tablet in its class, as well as the world’s first with a flexible OLED panel.
The new MatePad Pro features a 13.2-inch display with a resolution of 2880 x 1920 pixels, 3:2 aspect ratio, 1000 nits peak brightness, 144 Hz refresh rate, high-frequency PWM control and support for Rheinland Global Eye Protection 3.0 technology. The screen-to-front ratio is 94% and the bezel width is just 3.4mm, the highest among tablets. At the top there is a small cutout for the 16 MP front camera with a 3D ToF sensor. The MatePad Pro weighs just 580 grams and is 5.5mm thin. During the presentation, Huawei compares its new product with the 12.9-inch iPad Pro, which is 100 grams heavier and almost a millimeter thicker.
The hardware basis of the MatePad Pro is the Kirin 9000s chipset, which is used in the flagship smartphones of the Mate 60 series. The RAM in the tablet can be up to 16 GB, internal memory – up to 1 TB. The company’s engineers paid special attention to the device’s cooling system, using graphite and liquid cooling. A massive 10,100 mAh battery with 88 W charging support is responsible for autonomy. The tablet can be charged to 85% in 40 minutes, and a full charge takes about 65 minutes.
On the back panel there is a dual camera with 13 and 8 megapixel sensors. Among other features, it is worth highlighting six speakers (two high-frequency and four low-frequency) with support for spatial sound and proprietary Huawei Sound technology. The device runs HarmonyOS 4. Along with the tablet, the third generation M-Pencil stylus was introduced, which was one of the first to receive support for StarLight connection technology, providing a faster and more stable connection, as well as no latency. The stylus can recognize more than 10 thousand levels of pressure. Huawei claims its accuracy is 20% higher than the second-generation Apple Pencil.
The MatePad Pro will be available in blue, white and black color options. The start of sales is scheduled for October 28. The prices are as follows:
