Google has updated Chrome’s phishing protection

Fraudsters who use phishing sites or emails to collect users’ confidential information have caused enormous harm to humanity. Over decades of active development of the Internet through phishing, attackers managed to steal impressive amounts of money and infect countless computers around the world, but now Google has decided to put an end to this. To this end, company representatives presented a new and quite powerful tool that will allow, within the Chrome browser, to fight attackers who want to steal a person’s personal data on the Internet.

Google has timed its latest development to coincide with the 15th anniversary of the Chrome browser, and in the coming weeks, a tool that increases the security of online browsing will be available to all users of this application. Anti-phishing protection is based on a mechanism that will compare the URLs of websites visited by the user with a list of malicious sites stored on Google cloud servers. That is, when you go to a website, Chrome will check the link against the list in real time, and if the website matches the list of malicious projects, it will be blocked and the user will see a corresponding notification.

It is worth noting that previously the Safe Internet Browsing feature was an additional feature that had to be manually activated in the settings, but now this anti-phishing feature works by default.
