LG has released the QNED82 series, which is one of the initial ones in the 2022 QNED line. Unlike cheaper models from LG, QNED82 is equipped with quantum dot technology. As a result, TVs in this series are capable of reproducing a wider color space. The series consists of two models with screen sizes of 55 and 65 inches.
The TVs in this series are equipped with the webOS 22 operating system , HDMI 2.1 ports, variable refresh rate (VRR) and many gaming features found only in LG’s flagship TVs. How good is the QNED829QB TV? Does it have disadvantages, and is it worth buying?

LG QNED 82 Review
Design
LG QNED80 has a simple design. TV case in titanium meteorite color. There is nothing outstanding in its minimalist design. At the same time, the TV does not look cheap. The stand is a crescent-shaped center leg that holds the TV pretty well. The back of the TV is made of metal. It also looks pretty simple.
The connection sockets are built into the TV. Therefore, they are difficult to reach if the TV is mounted on the wall. Cables can be routed through the stand and cable management clips. If you want to hang the TV on the wall, then you should use a special VESA 300 x 300 bracket, which will have to be purchased separately.
TV QNED LG 65QNED829QB has a good build quality. The included Magic Remote has a point-and-click function that makes it easy to navigate the menus. It has a built-in microphone for giving voice commands. You can be asked to switch inputs, open apps, search for content, or adjust settings.
webOS 22
LG QNED80 comes with webOS 2022 smart platform. The system is easy to use and has several additional features compared to previous years’ models. For example, support for user profiles so that each family member can customize their profile as they wish. As with most smart platforms, there are ads in the interface and there is no way to turn them off.
Sound quality
The 2.0 sound scheme, with a maximum total output of 20W, on the 65QNED829QB TV is no different from the sound in cheaper models from the same manufacturer. The TV has a good frequency response. The sound is normal at a moderate volume level.
However, at maximum volume, compression is immediately audible. Unfortunately, as with most TVs, the sound does not reproduce deep bass. Distortion handling is very good, but again, at a moderate volume level. Also, the disadvantages include the lack of support for Dolby Atmos .
Contrast and local dimming
Also like the LG 65QNED816QA , the LG QNED829QB TV has a mediocre 1045:1 contrast ratio. This means blacks look gray next to bright highlights when viewed in a dark room. While the local dimming feature does help improve the contrast slightly, up to 1365:1, it does so at the cost of brightening whites.
The black level remains the same. LG QNED82 QNED TV is equipped with edge LED backlight . As with other TVs with the same backlighting, the same bright highlights against a black background can be seen to glow. The TV only has 6 local dimming zones.
If you watch a movie with subtitles, which usually appear on a black background, you can see the screen bloom. These artifacts can also be observed in game mode. In Vivid mode, the bloom becomes less noticeable than in the standard mode. The best effect is achieved by disabling local dimming, which does not work as well as we would like.
However, with local dimming disabled, the entire screen becomes dark blue and slightly hazy due to the low contrast ratio. Probably the most important mistake is that weak local dimming works in tandem with side lighting. Apparently, this leads to insufficient uniformity of black. At the same time, gray uniformity can be called very good.
Brightness and HDR
Peak brightness when viewed in SDR mode is very good. It reaches 538 nits in a 10 percent white window. This value is quite enough to deal with glare from side light sources. But if you place this TV in front of a window, then this margin of brightness will not be enough.
In SDR mode, the TV is able to produce very bright and realistic colors with a large depth of field. In HDR mode, the brightness is also not bad. However, its peak value is no different from viewing in standard dynamic mode. Regardless, the video improvements when watching HDR content are certainly noticeable.
On the other hand, those highlights don’t stand out as much as they do on more expensive premium TVs. As for the game mode, the viewing effect and peak brightness values in both modes (HDR and SDR) will be exactly the same as, for example, when watching movies in Cinema mode. The 82 QNED TV does not support Dolby Vision . That is, the user is limited to only viewing HDR content in the base HDR10 format.
Viewing angles and zoom
The QNED829QB TV has very good viewing angles. Almost always, the image remains unchanged when viewed from the side. However, if you look at the screen at a very wide angle, you will notice that the screen looks a little darker. The QNED829 has no problem scaling lower resolution content.
This applies to all formats, from DVD or SD cable channels to Full HD content. Since the device has quantum dot technology, it has very good coverage of the DCI-P3 space as well as Rec 2020.
Game Mode
The 65QNED829 TV has a 120Hz refresh rate panel with a very good response time ranging from 4.5ms to 13.6ms. Most of the time the motion looks smooth, but there is still some blur in scenes with very dark transitions.
In addition, the device is equipped with technologies such as FreeSync and G-SYNC. The TV also supports all three common VRR formats to reduce screen tearing. The TV supports low frame rate compensation for the VRR function.
Connections
The main advantage of the set of connections used in the LG QNED829QB QNED TV is the presence of two full-fledged HDMI ports with version 2.1. The remaining two HDMI ports are version 2.0. One of the HDMI 2.1 bandwidth ports also doubles as an eARC capable port . This means you can only connect one HDMI 2.1 device if you have a soundbar or receiver.
In addition, there are 2 USB 2.0 ports, a digital optical audio output (TosLink), an Ethernet port for Internet line-in, antenna connectors and a CI + slot for watching pay TV channels. There are no analog inputs / outputs, including a 3.5 mm jack. Wireless connections are implemented using technologies such as Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
Conclusion
The LG QNED82 TV is perfect for watching contenet in bright rooms. It displays native 4K or 1080p content and below without issue. What’s more, it eliminates jitter from 24p content from any source. And LG QNED 82 is also perfect for collective viewing. We recommend this TV.
