LG TV 2021 – what’s new?
Let’s start with the updated Alpha 9 and Alpha 7 video processors , which came out in the 4th generation. At the same time, the flagship Alpha 9 received the abbreviation AI in its name, which indicates the use in its work of “deep learning algorithms to recognize scenes and genres and present the image in the best possible way, no matter what programs you watch,” as the company says.

As for the lineup, the highlight is the emergence of a new class of QNED TVs , which use MiniLED backlighting in the panel . In the LG hierarchy, they ranked high between OLED and NanoCell. MiniLED literally means miniaturization of LEDs. Tens of thousands of these tiny light sources, coupled with thousands of local dimming zones, deliver higher brightness and contrast than conventional LED TVs.
Interesting changes have been made to LG’s premium OLED lineup . First, the company is introducing an all-new A1 series designed to make the traditionally expensive OLED technology more accessible to consumers. Second, the range of screen sizes expands from five to seven with the addition of a large diagonal of 211 cm (83 inches) and a small diagonal of 107 cm (42 inches). Thirdly, the improved OLED Evo panel, which will be equipped with the LG G1 model, now stands apart from the usual brethren. And finally, LG decided to abandon the W model , which for its thinness was nicknamed the “TV wallpaper”.

The rest of LG TVs, like QNED , are based on LCD technology. Their more advanced representatives are brought into a separate class NanoCell. Budget LCD models close the hierarchy.
In terms of design, we note the appearance of a floor stand for the LG OLED A1 , B1, C1 and G1 models . It is purchased separately and is compatible with older OLED B9 , C9 , BX, CX , GX and other series models.
2021 TVs are equipped with an updated, sixth version of the webOS platform . For the first time in many years, it has undergone a radical update, mainly affecting the home page interface, which stretches across the entire screen as opposed to the narrow ribbon of icons previously used.
The Magic Remote has also been updated with a more ergonomic shape, as well as a new Magic Tap function for easily transferring content from a smartphone to a TV screen using NFC technology.
As before, LG TVs stand out from the competition with powerful gaming features, including support for HDMI 2.1, VRR, ALLM, eARC, AMD FreeSync, Nvidia G-Sync technologies. This year, a new feature, Game Optimizer, is introduced, which is a central hub in which information about all game parameters and settings is concentrated. Also note that this year, cloud gaming services Google Stadia and Nvidia GeForce Now will become available for LG TV owners.
