TCL 43P631 is a very cool model of TV that you can more than consider if you are not looking for maximum demands and want to spend as little as possible, as is always the case with TCL TVs.
Design and connectivity
A modern, versatile and even elegant design that slips in the manufacturing materials because, although they are not ugly, the legs, made of plastic (well polished in matt, yes), are noted for their much lower design quality compared to the panel . This one, by the way, only has a frame, very thin , the lower one. The entire set is done in a Dark Metal color with a supposed brushed effect .
For the 43-inch panel we have a width of 958 mm and a height of 558 . The profile varies in measurements, its thinnest part being only 8 mm, the rest of the panel embrace is 52 mm and 79 mm is used for the thickest area, which includes the area of the connectors . It weighs 6.4 kilos and you will hang it on your wall with a device that has universal compatibility with VESA 20 x 20 cm .
With the built-in stand, the TCL P631 will measure 610 x 958 x 185mm and take just 100 grams more weight, reaching 6.5 kilograms . These legs are placed at a distance of 838 mm, in case you have to do the math to place between them, for example, a sound bar or, really, what you consider. It must be said that for the rest of the sizes, both the legs and the bottom of the television in general become somewhat more aesthetic.
Tuning and connectivity
The reception of the model quite surprises me. This includes even HbbTV in 2.0.2 but of course also a digital with cable, satellite and terrestrial and a full analog with NTSC/PAN/SECAM and BG/DK/I/LL’ . It also has compatibility with CI+ v1.4 .
Be careful because, although it deceives, this model does not have HDMI 2.1 but with fake 2.1 . With this, some improved features are taken but the base is that of the old version. We have three HDMI . Then we find a USB 2.0, RJ45, headphone jack, optical digital audio output and everything necessary to receive the channels that we have mentioned.
Wireless connectivity goes through bluetooth 5.0 and WiFI 5 MIMO with Direct at 2.4 GHz.
Image quality
For this television, the firm bets on the typical and cheaper 43-inch VA panel . It is given a false 10-bit color depth using Frame Rate Control . With this, the DCI P3 , the conventional color standard, reaches a coverage greater than 75% , which is what we consider to be fine for colors to appear well reproduced at wide angles. It is backlit with a direct LED system and its resolution is 3840 x 2160 pixels, which is UHD . Regarding est, the model rescales lower resolution content .
We find 60 Hz for the frequency or refresh rate, PPI at 2300 points for frame interpolation, a brightness of 330 nits and a native 5000:1 for contrast .
Dynamic Color Enhancement is the technology used by TCL to improve the richness of colors, giving them precision, seeking a result similar to that of HDR so that those contents that are not HDR can also be seen more accurately. Mega Contrast offers greater sharpness in contrasts thanks to the vividness of color and the purity of whites and blacks. Remember that both technologies are offered in their basic version. In turn, it also has a noise reduction system .
And even including DCE TCL 43P631 also has support for HDR , allowing us to see content with HDR HLG and HDR 10 , worse no more.
Sound
The model processes Dolby Audio, which is the highest quality compendium of standards at the moment. We see that, in this case, it is compatible with content up to Dolby AC4 .
As for power , the TV has a conventional wattage rating of 20 (W) , 10 for each of its full-range down firing speakers.
Bluetooth gives you the option of sending audio tracks to the TV so that you can use it to play music only, thus activating Eco mode, which consumes less energy. Another small point is that the television has automatic volume control .
Software/smartTV review
In order for the model to be intelligent, the Android 11 TV OS has been introduced . Also, on top of it we see Google TV , which is TCL’s way of personalizing the TCL 43P631.
One of the things that those of us who consume these Google resources like the most is the way in which the interface is designed and, therefore, how easily we can access the services and content that we have on the television. Also, one of the best things I can find is that all of Google TV can be put in the language you want among 29, being the service that offers the most options in this regard.
You will find a variety of apps already installed as soon as you turn on your television but, as you can imagine, you can download many more. Specifically, the model allows you to download all those TV software found in the Google Play Store , that is, an outrage.
It also has the capacity for you to do mirroring from other devices. You can also do this with the classic Chromecast or use the firm’s TCast technology.
The same goes for the home system in which you can integrate the TV, having both Google Home and TCL Home at your disposal.
Finally, know that the TV can be put into different modes to adapt to what you are doing, including the variability of the refresh rate when you are playing.
