LG announced its line of mini LED LCD TVs for 2022 at CES 2022 in Las Vegas. While LG will certainly focus on its OLED TV lineup in 2022, the company will continue to focus on LCD TVs as well. LG’s QNED 2022 comes with features such as mini LED backlighting, HDMI 2.1 and webOS 22. 2022 LG QNED TVs
The term QNED in LG’s line of LCD TVs refers to mini LED backlit TVs. This is an improved version of the LCD LED technology we’ve seen in recent years. The LCD screen remains the same, but the backlight using this method consists of thousands of small LEDs that can be controlled in small groups.
The advantages of mini LED are higher contrast and higher brightness. In 2022, LG will release five series called QNED. Two of them are 8K and three are 4K. Strikingly, out of the five QNED series, only four have miniLEDs with local dimming.
All known features are present in all top models, including HDMI 2.1 (4K / 120, eARC, VRR), Filmmaker mode , Game Optimizer, AirPlay 2 HomeKit . The TVs also support Nvidia GeForce Now and Google Stadia.
Game Optimizer Menu
For the 2022 models, viewers will be able to select and toggle game features and display presets in the Game Optimizer menu found on the TV. The Game Optimizer menu provides fast access to Darkroom mode. This mode controls the brightness of the screen for optimal gaming in a dark room.
G-Sync compatibility , FreeSync Premium and Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) settings can also be accessed through Game Optimizer. In addition, a new Sports Mode has been added to the presets for FPS, RPG and RTS to provide more detailed information for realistic gameplay.
OS webOS 22
webOS 22 provides a personal profile for personalized viewing. With this profile, consumers can set up quick access to their favorite streaming services, receive personalized offers based on their browsing history, and receive immediate alerts to stay on top of their favorite sports teams.
NFC Magic Tap
You can log into profiles both through a TV browser and through a smartphone with NFC Magic Tap. This technology can also be used to mirror a smartphone screen to an LG TV. With Room To Room Share, consumers can also mirror content in their home from one TV to another.
Always Ready and ThinQ AI
It is also possible to watch cable or satellite content on another TV via Wi-Fi without an additional TV set-top box. When the TV is turned off, it becomes a multimedia display thanks to Always Ready technology. This option is launched on the “magic” remote control with one click of a button.
